Difference between Incoloy 825 Hex Bolts and 925 Hex Bolts-

 Alloy 825 (Incoloy 825, UNS N08825, 2.4858) and Alloy 925 (Incoloy 925, UNS N09925) are nearly identical in composition, and therefore provide very similar corrosion resistance and physical properties. However, Alloy 925 provides significantly higher levels of strength as it benefits from precipitation strengthening. Small additions are made to its composition, which allows the formation of microscopic precipitates when the alloy is subjected to an extended heat-treatment process. These fine precipitates increase the yield strength by up to 4x.

v  Features of Incoloy 825 Hex Bolts and 925 Hex Bolts-

·         Incoloy 825 Hex Bolts are highly resistant to corrosion. It has a high nickel content which is sufficient to eliminate stress corrosion of chloride ions and is a very stable austenite structure. The copper and molybdenum contents allow the alloy to remove reducing agents and acids. Its chromium provides resistance to oxidizing conditions, such as nitrates and oxidizing salts and nitric acid solutions. It is stabilized with titanium which resists pitting and intergranular attacks after manufacture, in particular welding, which includes heating in the critical sensitization temperature range of 650 ° C to 760 ° C.

·         Incoloy 925 Hex Bolts are capable of remaining stable and maintaining their austenitic structure even after long-time exposures to high temperatures. Other characteristics of it are good strength, and high resistance to oxidizing, reducing, and aqueous environments. It tends to work-harden during machining. It can be hot worked at temperature ranges of 871-1232°C.

·         Incoloy 925 Hex Bolts are used in large-scale equipment that needs installation accessories, such as sight glasses, mechanical seal seats, and reduction racks. When it is used, one end is screwed into the main body, and the other end is fitted with a nut after the attachment is installed. It is a precipitation-Hardenable nickel-iron-chromium alloy.

·         By adding aluminum and titanium it can be age-hardened. On the other hand, molybdenum and copper are added to increase their corrosive media resistance. It is heat-treated by annealing at 983 to 1038°C followed by cooling.

v  The common application of Incoloy 825 Hex Bolts & 925 Hex Bolts-

Hex bolts can be used for many different applications that include fastening ;

·         Wood

·         Steel and other construction materials

·         for projects such as docks, bridges, highway structures, and buildings.

·         Hex bolts with forged heads are also commonly used as headed anchor bolts.
