Choosing the Right Stainless Steel Nipple for Industrial Applications

Commonly used in several different industrial applications, applications consist of a variety of different types. Although nipple fittings can be made from a variety of different materials, stainless steel nipple is a well-known kind of pacifier, largely due to its inherent strength and durability.

Features of Stainless Steel Nipple-

Impact Resistance- The austenitic microstructure of the SS Nipple provides high toughness, making these steels particularly suited to healthcare environments.

Corrosion Resistance- Stainless Steel nipple is used extensively in hospital environments and food processing environments.

Hygiene- The hard metal surface of the SS teat makes it difficult for bacteria to adhere to and survive. Its ease of cleaning makes it the first choice for strict hygienic conditions.

Recyclable- SS nipple is 100% recyclable. 50% of the new stainless steel comes from old remodeled stainless steel scrap, completing the entire life cycle.

Aesthetic Appearance- The bright, easily maintained surface of the stainless steel nipple provides a modern and attractive appearance.

Long-term Value- When the total life cycle costs are considered, stainless steel nipple is often the least expensive material option.

Types of Stainless Steel Nipples and their Application-

Among the various types of stainless steel nipple types are hex nipple, closed nipple, reducing nipple, long hex nipple, solder nipple, and pipe nipple. Nipple fittings that do not have an unthreaded or bare pipe section between the two connection ends are generally referred to as runny nipples or closed nipples. When a hexagonal nipple has a greater distance between the two threaded ends, it is called a long hexagonal nipple.

In many of the applications, the space available between the two threaded ends can be a very small hexagonal nipple is regularly the excellent preference on this form of application, because it works much like a nut and gives a higher mechanical advantage. When a hexagonal nipple functions extra distance among the 2 threaded ends, it's far known as an extended hex nipple.

Reducing SS nipples are regularly utilized in packages wherein an alternate in pipe size is required. This also can every so often be referred to as a choppy nipple. SS nipples are generally ideal for low-pressure applications where a fitting resistant to corrosion in oil, gas, and water is required. It should be noted that the stainless steel nipple is rated at 150 psi for oil, gas, and water. Other types of stainless steel nipples include 316, which offers a greater degree of heat and corrosion resistance.
